About

The Mount Abraham Unified School District (MAUSD) is nestled in the beautiful Champlain Valley of Vermont between Burlington and Middlebury. The district is rural and serves over 1,300 students PK-12 from the five towns of Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton, New Haven and Starksboro. MAUSD is a vibrant learning community with dedicated, intelligent, accepting students and hard working, caring, passionate educators.  Great things happen within and across our classrooms.  Students support and challenge each other’s thinking. Teachers support one another’s growth as professionals.  Administrators take steps to create safe and welcoming environments.  We are leading the way with our work on academic proficiencies, work habits, and transferable skills.  We articulate what we want our students to know and be able to do and offer flexible pathways for students to demonstrate their learning.

We are a community that cares deeply for our students, our schools and one another.  Our fans cheer from the sidelines of athletic competitions. Theater performances take place in front of packed auditoriums.  Schools are filled with people during open houses.  Our list of volunteers is literally hundreds of names long.  Large meeting places fill with people who want to understand and help solve complex challenges.

We are fortunate to have such a great staff and community working to support an amazing student body.  For those who live and work here, thank you for helping to make MAUSD such a wonderful place.  For those considering working or living here we look forward to meeting you one day.
